Here's the Real World Hospitals part 2
42Part 2
During my first year of the medical field I thought I knew everything, I thought I was going to change the world.I my field I am able to be in all areas of the hospital this gave me alot of insight on how things worked. I loved working the emergency room until I saw what happens. It was HCA and Columbia owned, so healthcare was a business, medicaid was frowned on, pretty much everyone that came in with medicaid was treated pretty sad, I know some people go through tough times, inspite of that they were all frowned on. Most of the times the nurses were rude and the care the kids recieved was mediocre at best. You see medicare pays the hospitals very little, and they are very strict, and sometimes the mexican nationals would abuse the system. Anyway that's how it would happen, they would make fun of them at the nurses station and make really shrude comments, there were only a few of the nurses that still loved there jobs that were good and did care. We once got a young teen with a shotgun shot to his thigh, he screamed out "it hurts so bad! Man!'' the nurse that was working with him replied "Yes, I know it hurts, its gonna hurt its a gun shot wound"! and said this sarcastically, they did not give him any pain medication, they let him feel the pain for about an hour till they felt he had learned his lesson. It was'nt his fault, he was shot accidentlly, since it wasnt a fatal wound, they took there time with him. That day, they were bastards, the nurse still works at that hospital.
Until next time

It seems from this hub that you are in the USA this is a system that I know little to nothing about except what I see on the TV on the reality programs. It seems like you are a caring person exposed to situations where some people are not receiving the care they need.
I know that some people who have to deal with traumatic events on a daily basis often develop a sense of humour that appears strange or harsh to outsiders but it is a way that they found helps them to cope with a really stressful environment and isn’t meant to hurt or put down the people who they are attending to. I look forward to reading more of your hubs.
